Alternative Investment Fund likely to have ₹4,500-cr greenshoe option

Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors (EAAA) is in the process of launching a new fund — Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus — that aims to raise ₹2,000 crore, with a greenshoe option of ₹4,500 crore.

The Category-I Alternative Investment Fund will look to buy quality operating assets and generate mid-teen returns, including regular annual cash distribution. Global investors, such as pension funds, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds, along with domestic investors, such as insurance companies, select family offices, corporate treasury, bank treasury and ultra high net worth individuals can take part in this fund, the company said in a statement.

“Globally, infrastructure is recognised as a sustainable asset class and a desirable alternative to volatile equity markets and low-yielding fixed income investments. We have launched a one-of-its-kind infrastructure fund that focusses on buying high-quality operating assets rather than investing in high-risk under-construction assets,” Nitin Jain, CEO, Global Wealth and Asset Management, Edelweiss Group, said.

“This fund opens up opportunities for both domestic as well as foreign investors in a unified structure,” he added.
