Financial institutions and IT shares advanced in the afternoon session to emerge among the top gainers on the BSE in late trading on Wednesday.
At 3.25 pm HDFC led the pack on the bourse, trading at Rs 1,267.50, a gain of 2.13 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,241.10.
Wipro rode up 2.02 per cent at Rs 564 as against Rs 552.85 overnight.
TCS extended its morning rally to notch up gains of 1.89 per cent at Rs 2,559.50 as against Rs 2,511.95 at close yesterday.
HDFC Bank was trading at Rs 1,024 as against Rs 1,006.65 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 1.72 per cent.
Tata Power edged lower by the close. It was trading at Rs 77.10. 8, up 1.65 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 75.85.
