HDFC up 2.8% on BSE

Financial institutions HDFC and HDFC Bank led the pack on the BSE on Friday morning in another record-setting session for the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty. The positive sentiment was attributed to the ECB's stimulus measures.

At 10.55 am HDFC was trading at Rs 1,315.45, up 2.79 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,279.80. HDFC Bank was trading at Rs 1,045 as against Rs 1,021.15 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 2.34 per cent.

The Sensex surged more than 300 points to perch comfortably above the 29,300-mark, while the Nifty gained more than 100 points to eye the 8,900 level.

Bharti Airtel rang in gains of 2.31 per cent to quote at Rs 378.50. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 369.95.

Larsen & Toubro climbed up 2.05 per cent to quote at Rs 1,697.20 as against Rs 1,663.10 at close on Thursday.

Tata Motors sped up 1.93 per cent to quote at Rs 577.25 as against Rs 566.30 at close yesterday.
