Banks Board recommends 14 for elevation as MD, CEO

Banks may not have an appetite for government bonds

The Banks Board Bureau (BBB) has recommended the name of Anshula Kant for appointment as State Bank of India’s Managing Director.

The names of as many as 14 persons have been recommended for the posts of Managing Director & CEO in various public sector banks.

Six of the 14 recommended are from SBI.

Those recommended are: Gopal Murli Bhagat (Corporation Bank); PV Bharathi (Canara Bank); MK Bhattacharya and AS Rajeev (Indian Bank); Atul Kumar Goel and Ashok Kumar Pradhan (Union Bank of India); S Harishankar (Allahabad Bank); Padmaja Chandru, Mrutunjay Mohapatra, Pallav Mohapatra, J Packirisamy, Karnam Sekar and CV Nageswar (all SBI); SS Mallikarjuna Rao (from Syndicate Bank).

Based on the recommendations of the BBB, the Centre will take a final decision on their appointment. The recommendations of the Bureau are subject to various clearances.
