The Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Modi, today lambasted the banks for poor showing in achieving the target of Annual Credit Plan (ACP) in the State and said all these financial institutions should ponder as to what were they doing for progress of the state.

Addressing 36th State Level Bankers' Committee meeting here, Mr Modi said there were several lead and schedule commercial banks which failed to attain the target of ACP during 2010-11.

“Lead banks having less than 80 per cent performance are State Bank of India (79.57 per cent), Central Bank of India (75.53 per cent), Punjab National Bank (77.42 per cent and Bank of Baroda (77.09) per cent, while the schedule commercial banks wit less than 50 per cent performance are Andhra Bank, bank of Maharashtra, Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab and Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, United Bank of India and Vijaya Bank,” he said

Mr Modi said even the Bank of Maharashtra and United Bank of India performed less than 10 per cent and therefore the Reserve Bank of India and SLBC should take appropriate measures.

He patted the IDBI and Canara Bank for showing more than 100 per cent performance.
