Kolkata-based UCO Bank is "examining ways" of declaring Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) a "willful defaulter".

According to Arun Kaul, Chairman and Managing Director, the bank is examining a possibility of sending a wilful defaulter notice.

"We are examining a possibility of sending a wilful defaulter notice to Kingfisher," he told reporters on the sidelines of the CII-organised Banking Colloquium.

A consortium of 17 banks, led by the State Bank of India (SBI), has an exposure of around ₹6,500 crore to the now grounded KFA.

Kolkata-based United Bank of India has declared KFA, Vijay Mallya and three other directors of the airline as "wilful defaulters."
