A Bill to amend the existing Inter-State River Water Disputes law was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

This Bill --The Inter-State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill 2017 -- was introduced by Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti.

It was introduced in the lower house despite objections raised by BJD member Bhartruhari Mahtab that the proposed Bill was drafted in a poor manner and that the Centre should take a re-look at it before introducing it.

Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced a new Bill -- The Footwear Design and Development Institute Bill 2017 in the Lok Sabha.

This Bill seeks to declare the footwear design and development institute an institution of national importance for the promotion and development of quality and excellence in education, research and training in all disciplines relating to footwear and leather products design.
