V Rishi Kumar A number of Chinese companies from various sectors are here to take part in the Sm@rt Urbanisation event, to explore the possibilities of working on smart cities projects.

A delegation headed by Shiyong Hong, Vice-President, China Chamber of Commerce and Export Machinery and Electronics Products (CCCME), is looking to act as an interface between Chinese and Indian companies seeking to work together on upcoming projects.

The Smart Cities Council India, part of the Global Consortium of Smart Cities, is organising the 5th Smart Cities Summit Sm@rt Urbanisation at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre to analyse the learnings and impact assessment.

Speaking at the conference, Shiyong said: “China and India are the two largest developing countries with the same strategies and dreams. The Chinese President and Indian Prime Minister have met each other more than 10 times in the last three years. We need to match our strategies and explore the potential for mutual growth.

“By 2030, more than 0.7 billion people will be residing in Indian cities and India has to built 100 smart cities to cater to them. China can be a partner in developing smart cities, with our innovative technologies and manufacturing capabilities.”

CCCME comprises Chinese companies including China Road & Bridge Corporation, Power China International group, ZTE Corporation and China ENFIL Engineering Corporation.

Founded in 1988, CCME has more than 10,000 member companies and maintains a close relationship with the Indian Embassy in China, said Shiyong.
