Eminent citizens on Thursday appealed to Team Anna, including Anna Hazare, to give up in their expectations from this political establishment and call off their indefinite fast.

“Instead you should pour your energies in creating an alternative political force in the country, that is democratic, accountable, ethical and non-violent,” said the appeal, signed by Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, former Navy chief, Admiral Ram Tahiliani, former Army chief General V K Singh, former Chief Election Commissioner J.M Lyngdoh, former bureaucrats EAS Sarma, Ramaswamy R Iyer, and many others.

The citizens appealed to Team Anna to grab this ‘historic opportunity’ to create an “electoral revolution to democratise and decentralise power” and make it more accountable to the people.

“Indian democracy stands at the crossroads. It needs a new wind,” says the appeal and calls upon all democratic movements, citizens and oragnisations to join hands for such a movement.
