Funds promised for ayurveda college

Union Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas has said that funds would be made available for the development of the Government Ayurveda College at Tripunithura, a leading ayurvedic science centre.

He was inaugurating the college’s DSpace Digital Library set up using his local development fund.

The Minister said said he had directed the District Collector to formulate a special project to make available drinking water on the college campus before November 2.

Funds for vehicles

On the basis of the decision taken by the College Development Council, he said, Rs 18.31 lakh had been allotted for purchase of a bus while Rs 9 lakh had been granted for buying an ambulance. Both would be handed over to the college on November 2.

Funds for development of ayurvedic colleges and hospitals would be made available from the Union government’s Ayur-Ayush project, he added.

Tripunithura is the first government ayurvedic college to have a D-Space Digital Library, readied on a budget of Rs 15 lakh.
