IIM-B team wins Steel-a-thon 2015

A team from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, emerged as the champions of Steel-a-thon 2015, Tata Steel’s annual contest for identification of workplace problem-solving skills in would-be-managers from business schools.

IIM-B’s winning project was on contracting strategy to counter price increase.

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, won the 1st runners up position and JBIMS, Mumbai secured the 2nd runners up slot.

The champions walked away with a cash prize of Rs 2.50 lakh and a trophy. The first and the second runner up teams were awarded cash prizes Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.

Tata Steel will offer all the winners an opportunity to join the company as management trainees.

This was the second edition of the programme. It saw the participation of over 3,095 students across top 15 business schools, according to Tata Steel.

The first edition last year had seen the participation of 600 teams. This year, 941 teams participated in a two-month long in and outside campus event.
