The Indian School of Business (ISB) has launched its first ‘hybrid’ model executive education programme, ISB Biocon Certificate Programme in Business Analytics (CBA).

The hybrid model refers to combined use of traditional classroom-based teaching and technology aids for remote learning.

“There is an explosion in data in practically every sphere of business. With greater adoption of digital technologies, this is bound to grow exponentially. However, there is a dearth of available talent to help organisations make sense of this data deluge,’’ Deepak Chandra, Deputy Dean, ISB, said in a release issued here on Wednesday.

The new programme was launched to cater to this need and would help create professionals who can help their organisations derive value with the power of analytics, he added.

Commenting on this development, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, promoter Biocon Foundation, said: “I think this course will develop high quality Business Analytics, which will be a great value add to the industry.’’

Conceptualised and developed by ISB, CBA has inputs from global academia, and business leaders from companies such as BA Continuum India (Bank of America), Cognizant Technology Solutions, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, MuSigma, Shoppers Stop, Everyday Health Inc and Tech Mahindra.

The duration of the part-time programme would be one year with 430 contact hours. The hybrid programme will entail 66 per cent of classroom-based learning and the balance through the aid of technology.

The first class comprising 104 students commenced on September 14, at the ISB’s Hyderabad campus with 15 per cent women students.
