What began as delivering a vada-pav from a particular outlet to a customer waiting at the Mumbai Airport in 2012 and turned into a start-up called GetMyPeon is all set to expand to five more cities by the end of 2015.

Mumbai based errand-running and same-day delivery service GetMyPeon, which expanded to Thane and Vashi last week, plans to set up shop in Pune in April-end and then to Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi, its founder Bharat Ahirwar told BusinessLine on Tuesday.

The company will now also take orders via WhatsApp Mobile Messenger and Twitter tweets, along with the traditional booking via phone calls, he said.

Ahirwar said the company, which ran only about 20 tasks daily in 2012, now runs 70 a day and employs about 30 people in Mumbai. “We are also looking at providing services like electricians and plumbers.”

In June 2014, the start-up was pleasantly surprised when a client provided seed funding for expansion and became a co-founder, Ahirwar said, adding GetMyPeon has already attained break even and making profits.

Ahirwar got the idea of GetMyPeon when, in 2012, he had to miss work and spend the entire day paying bills and running other important chores. “That day, I realized that running errands is one of the biggest challenges in a city like Mumbai. There was no easy service available to help the professionals in these day-to-day tasks. GetMyPeon, basically, targets such professionals and those who lack extra helping hands around their house or office.

For a fee ranging from Rs 150 to Rs 300, GetMyPeon delivers gifts, invitations, grocery, cakes, medicines and medical reports, parcels, documents, tickets, food, bouquet, courier and cheque pick-ups. Apart from various services to NRIs and expatriates, it also offers assistance in vehicle servicing. “We currently have over 1,000 clients in Mumbai, he added.

Recently, it introduced a new service by providing assistance to senior citizens for visiting a doctor.
