Goldman Sachs invests Rs 441 cr in SAMHI Hotels

Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has invested ₹441 crore in SAMHI Hotels, the hotel investment and development company said in a statement on Tuesday.

SAMHI Hotels will utilise the funds to expand its footprint through acquisitions across India, it added.

Ashish Jakhanwala, Founder and CEO, SAMHI Hotels, said, “This investment from Goldman Sachs will accelerate our firm’s platform across the country and catalyse further acquisition-led growth.”

As of December 2015, SAMHI owns 16 hotels and another 10 are in advanced stages of development.

Goldman has deployed more than $2.5 billion since 2006, the statement added.

Co-founded by Ashish Jakhanwala and Manav Thadani, SAMHI’s current shareholders include Sam Zell-led Equity International, GTI Capital Group, and IFC (member of the World Bank Group).
