The Earth System Science Organisation, India Meteorological Department (ESSO-IMD), and Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (Posoco), a wholly owned subsidiary of PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding for use of weather information and forecast in the power sector.
Under the agreement, ESSO-IMD will provide weather warnings about likely occurrences of thunderstorm, heat wave, cold wave, rainfall, fog, etc. over various States up to next 72 hours, as also State and region-wise monthly and seasonal weather outlooks, an official release said.
Posoco, in turn, will endeavour for economic assessment of impact of weather and climate information and, though a regular feed mechanism, will continuously upgrade the services.
