Move to inject software know-how in the company

Infosys will soon have another SAP AG senior executive, who reported to Vishal Sikka, joining the company as Vice-President, according to sources in the company.

Gordon Muehl, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for security at SAP and a company veteran since 1998, will handle business development and technology projects of Infosys’ customers based out of Germany.

He is expected to join Infosys in May. Infosys refused to comment on the new development.

Sikka’s appointments
After Sikka took over as CEO of Infosys, he has brought in many top executives from SAP including Michael Reh, former Executive Vice-President at SAP, who now heads products and platforms business at Infosys; Sanjay Rajagopalan, former head of design at SAP who is Senior Vice-President and heads design thinking at Infosys; Navin Budhiraja, former Chief Architect in SAP who is Senior Vice-President helping to implement next generation technologies at Infosys; Abdul Razack, former head of strategic projects at SAP who heads Big Data and Analytics at Infosys; and Ritika Suri, former Senior Vice-President at SAP who now heads mergers/acquisitions and investments at Infosys.

Sources said that hiring Muehl is another move by Infosys to inject software know-how into a company best known for contract programming and technical support.

As technology companies devote more resources to software security, Muehl had begun an effort to foster cooperation among SAP and other business-software providers to share more information about the security of open-source software.
