The Human Resource Development Ministry has maintained that the evaluation process of the JEE (Advanced) exam has been done on the lines of the Madras High Court order.
The court had put restrictions on evaluating answer sheet on the basis of the clarification issued post-exam. A petitioner had moved the court after the explanation, which stated that to numerical questions, answers without decimal points would also be deemed correct.
“The instructions were that up to two decimals it should be right. The petitioner said that if a student had written 7 instead of 7.00 then it should be considered incorrect. But, both are correct. For evaluation, IIT-Kanpur has complied with the instructions of the Court,” said R Subramanyam, Secretary, Higher Education.
When contacted by BusinessLine IIT-Kanpur in an e-mailed response said, “The results have been announced following the order issued by the High Court.”
The JEE (Advanced) exam was organised by IIT-Kanpur this time which took place on May 20.
Meanwhile, the IIT Board published an extended merit list of the JEE Advanced Examination last week. With that, the number of candidates who qualified went up to 31,980 from 18,138 earlier.
