Japanese agencies keen to work on AP projects

A Japanese delegation has met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu prior to his visit to Japan in November.

The exploratory meeting between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the delegation was to understand the state policies and government initiatives.

The delegation consisted of economic agencies such as Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), New Energy and Industrial Technology Development (NEDO), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, the delegation informed that it will be meeting the officials of over 100 companies in New Delhi next month and wanted a representation from Andhra Pradesh as a prelude to the CM’s visit.

The delegation has evinced interest in transfer of high-technology in agriculture and food processing sectors, cold chains and food parks. It has expressed keenness for joint ventures in industrial parks with a dedicated utility centre project in AP and power projects.

The delegation has also expressed its interest in Delhi-Mumbai dedicated freight corridor and Bangalore-Chennai industrial corridor and building a smart capital city in Vijayawada-Guntur region.

That apart, it has also evinced its interest in developing power projects, including 4,000-MW thermal power near Visakhapatnam, 4,000-MW thermal power project in Srikakulam and a 2,000-MW solar power project in Anantapur.

A joint working group has been constituted in this regard which will include heads from industry department, infrastructure department, energy department, IT and agriculture department and Member of Parliament Y. Satyanarayana Chowdary and AP’s special representative in Delhi K. Rammohan Rao.

Consul General of Japan in Chennai Sugiyama and representatives from JBIC, Embassy of Japan, JICA, JETRO and NEDO were present at the meeting.
