Attacks BJP’s PM nominee at a rally in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region

Making a fresh attack on Narendra Modi, the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said the former represented the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), whose founder was against the voting rights to women. Referring to M S Golwalker, one of the founding leaders of the RSS, Gandhi scion stated that it was Golwalker's ideology, which says Hindustan made a huge mistake by giving voting rights to women, that Modi represented.

In his election rally at Amreli Lok Sabha constituency in Saurashtra on Saturday, Gandhi said that Modi has worked for the RSS and he represented the ideology of its founders.

Gandhi, once again raked up the 'poisonous organisation' remark for the RSS, “According to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, it (RSS) was a poisonous organisation with an equally poisonous ideology, which could ruin the nation.”

Mocking at the Modi’s ambitious project of Sardar Patel’s statue on the banks of Narmada River, Gandhi said, “Modi should read about Saradar Patel before talking of building a statue in his honour. Modi has worked all his life for the reason for which Sardar Patel gave up his life and now that the situation has arisen, he is saying that he will construct his statue.”

In a fresh attack on the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)’s prime ministerial candidate for his alleged links with the Adani Group founder Gautam Adani, Rahul said, “There is a partnership between Modi and Adani. Modi sidelined all senior leader of the BJP including Advaniji, Jaswant Singhji, Yashwant Sinhaji and Sushmaji. Now, there are only two figures in BJP, on one side Modiji and on the other Adaniji,” he told the gathering.

Rahul Gandhi went on to allege Modi for giving away contracts worth Rs 26,000 crore to Adani for purchasing electricity.

Commenting on Modi’s claims of the development in Gujarat during his tenure, Gandhi said, “Modi is claiming the credit for the hard work of others in the state. The entrepreneurs from this state have put years of hard work to reach at this level of growth. Modi is all about me, me and me (as if) people of Gujarat have done nothing,” he said.

Gandhi further alleged that Modi lied on the issues of farmers’ suicides in the State. According to Gandhi, 6,000 farmers committed suicide in Gujarat. “He (Modi) goes all over the country and says that no farmer has committed suicide in Gujarat. However, the reality is 6,000 farmers have committed suicide here,” Rahul said in the rally.

Amreli constituency is considered to be crucial mainly because of the strong support coming out for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and RTI activist, Nathalal Sukhadia. Both the BJP and the Congress have repeated their candidates Naranbhai Kachadia and Virji Thumar respectively from the constituency.

Gujarat will poll on April 30 in a single-phase polling.
