The Association of Incipient Sick Small, Medium Enterprises will be organising a one-day workshop on revival of small and medium enterprises in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
The workshop will focus on Sarfaesi Act, problems in accessing bank credit, infrastructure issues, impact of sickness on society and exit policy, SK Gupta, Secretary of the association, told newspersons here on Wednesday.
JSV Prasad, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, will be the chief guest at the meeting to be held at MSMEDi, Balanagar.
The resolution adopted at the end of the workshop shall be distributed to all the stakeholders, including the Government, he said. According to KS Reddy, President of the association, discrepancies in Reserve Bank of India norms about non-performing assets (NPAs), and certain policies being adopted by banks in classification of term loans and working capital were hurting SMEs.
The Sarfaesi Act was also being misused by bank officials and no clear distinction was being drawn between wilful defaulters and others who might have temporary problems.
There is also an urgent need for an exit policy for sick units, he added.
