TN industry bodies call for equitable distribution of power

Industry and trade associations from different parts of Tamil Nadu are meeting in Coimbatore on Saturday to discuss the issue of ‘equitable distribution of power’.

According to R. Palaniswami, Honorary Secretary, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, while Chennai division had power cut for two hours a day, in the rest of the State power cuts extended to 14-16 hours/ day. Though repeated representations were made to the Chief Minister, the Electricity Minister and the Chairman of TANGEDCO, the ‘situation has not improved but was ‘deteriorating day by day’ and the industries were facing threat of closure.

He said with a view to discuss the issue of seeking ‘equitable distribution of power’ a meeting of various industry and trade associations from all over the State will be held at Coimbatore on December 8.
