Another ‘Modi wave’ sweeps nation

Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, featuring in a special episode on Aap Ki Adalat on India TV, has managed to grab an all-time high market share in the Indian news television genre.

The episode was telecast on April 12. The two-hour show had some 74 per cent Hindi news television viewers watching at one point of time, according to TAM data.

The news channel was able to record the highest reach of almost 57 lakh viewers watching the original show during the first half-an-hour of telecast. The channel has since rerun the episode at different times.

As per TAM data, when the show was aired from 10 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, the television channel registered 65 per cent relative share, double that of the entire Hindi news genre put together.

Even on Youtube, the TV show with Modi has been a huge hit, and has clocked over 1.80 million views globally. Also trending was #modikiadalat at the number one slot on Twitter while the telecast was on.
