83,000 acres will be distributed to 57,000 beneficiaries in 21 districts

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will launch the sixth phase of its land distribution programme at a public meeting in Puttaparthy in Anantapur district of the State on Saturday.

About 83,000 acres will be distributed to 57,000 beneficiaries (landless people) in 21 districts during the sixth phase during November 3-10.

Each beneficiary will be handed over a set of documents containing patta, pattedar passbook, title deed and possession panchanama.

The focus is on ensuring peaceful possession of lands by the beneficiaries. This is also to avoid disputes with the others and keeping in view the problems faced by the beneficiaries in the past.

The land identified for the landless poor would be alienable, cultivable and assignable. Against the initial target of distributing one lakh acres under the sixth phase of the land distribution programme, about 83,000 acres have been identified till date and the rest will be completed soon.

The land will be distributed through ministers, MLAs and MLCs. The State Government has thus far distributed 7.17 lakh acres to 5.1 lakh landless poor families in the five phases of the programme since 2005.

The Government settled all the disputes except for a few cases where the matter is in courts.

The special deputy collector in the respective districts has been entrusted the task of reviewing the implementation of the Koneru Ranga Rao committee recommendation on the land distribution to the landless poor.

The officials were also asked to implement the prevention of transfer of land provision strictly.
