Industry in Andhra Pradesh is now facing a total power cut of 70 per cent. This is totally detrimental to the health of the industry, said the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Fapcci) today.
It is now completion of a full year of power cuts to the industry. First imposed on September 15, 2011, things have gone from bad to worse and this will force closure of industries, said Devendra Surana, President of the Chambers.
According to the Fapcci official, the present power supply situation is as follows: The total number of hours in a week works out to 168 hours. The three-day power holiday (72 hours), peak hour restriction (16 hours), number of hours when power is supplied (80 hours).
As per Government, only 60 per cent of the actual power supplied (80 hours per week) has to be used. This amounts to 48 hours out of the total 168 hours in a week. In short, the total power cut works out to nearly 70 per cent.
48 hours is available for the industries. This roughly means the industry is subjected to 70 per cent power cut a week.
Very recently, the industry had welcomed the revised measures announced by the Government effective from September 12, wherein a 60 per cent quota of power was given and the industry was promised continuous supply. However, all of a sudden further three-day power holiday has been announced, he stated in a press release.
