A Sangareddy court on Monday sent MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi to 14 days of judicial remand in a case registered in 2005.
The court has also adjourned hearing on a bail petition filed by the MIM leader to Tuesday. He was later shifted to the Sangareddy prison.
A case was registered against Owaisi for abusing the then District Collector and Joint Collector in a dispute pertaining to the construction of compound wall to a place of worship in Muttangi near here.
There were sporadic protest by MIM supporters in the Old City after the arrest and security was beefed up by the police.
