Bengal govt reinstates Kolkata police chief Rajeev Kumar

The West Bengal government, on Saturday, reinstated Rajeev Kumar, as the commissioner of Kolkata Police. He replaces Soumen Mitra.

Kumar, who was previously the city’s top cop, was removed from the post by the Election Commission of India, following complaints against him by Opposition parties in poll-bound West Bengal.

Mitra, will be the new ADG (Training), sources said.
