The BJP has claimed that the reports of “cash crunch” are a part of Cambridge Analytica’s strategy which is being maliciously executed by the Congress to influence voter intentions, take specific actions and shift balance in its favour.

Stating that it is a dangerous strategy that is intended to create fear, incite violence with lies and divisive politics, the BJP Member of Parliament Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already clarified that there is more than enough currency in the system and he also added that the shortage is caused due to ‘sudden and unusual increase’ in demand for cash in some parts of the country. “About a week ago, I was tipped off by some people in the Congress that this was something that they are working on to make it an issue leading up to the Karnataka elections. It is unusual that ATMs are running dry just before elections. There is more to this phenomenon than what meets the eye and a central agency must investigate on what is really causing this,” Chandrasekhar said in a statement.

He said many months ago, “I had predicted that the Congress Party will resort to dirty tricks, hitjobs and lies for Karnataka Elections 2018. My prediction is based on Congress Party’s failed track record and lack of any real plan for the development and prosperity for people of Karnataka. This was confirmed with the revealing of the proposal by Cambridge Analytica for Indian National Congress (INC) Party. This has exposed the ugly reality of the country’s oldest political party — of destabilising and dividing democracy with lies and fear that has been a malicious strategy of the Congress dynasty for decades.”

People should ignore this campaign of lies, fear and divisiveness by Congress President Rahul Gandhi and vote for change, he said.
