Chengdu, an IT hub in China, is tapping the touristy route to build bridges with Andhra Pradesh, its new business ally.

Apart from tourism, the Chinese city has shown interest in investing in manufacturing, information technology and agriculture.

“We can start off with tourism with a target of 50,000 tourist arrivals from both sides and gradually increase the number. This will help improve mutual understanding of our cultures,” Chengdu’s Deputy Mayor Fu Yonglin, who is leading a delegation to the new State, said.

The visit of delegation is a follow-up to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Chengdu recently.

The delegation met the Chief Minister on Thursday in Hyderabad and discussed possible areas of interest for investments.
