Justice R.M. Khandeparkar Committee constituted by the Goa Government to probe the illegalities pointed out by Justice M.B. Shah Commission into the iron ore trade in the State would be notified in the next few days, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said.

The Government is in the process of getting a formal consent from all those named in the committee, Parrikar told reporters last evening.

The independent high-level investigation committee was formed by the State Cabinet a fortnight ago, as a part of implementation of Shah Commission recommendations.

“We will notify it within the next couple of days,” the Chief Minister said.

The committee’s mandate is to suggest measures for effective control, supervision and regulation of mining industry.

It will also investigate the loss to the state exchequer due to pilferage of royalty, cess collection and will probe the encroachments pointed out in the Shah Commission’s report.

The Khandeparkar Committee will also identify the offences and illegalities by public servants in passing orders making dead leases operational.
