After claiming a 100 per cent village electrification, the Centre has now set it’s eyes on connecting each household in the country with power.
But the centre’s claims of village electrification were met with countering reports saying that multiple villages in the country were yet to be covered by electrification. Clarifying the government’s position, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New and Renewable Energy RK Singh said: “Each village has pockets of houses under multiple hamlets within itself. These hamlets will be electrified as the households are connected. We had set a target of connecting each household in the country by December 31, 2018.”
Nearly 83 per cent of all households in the country have electricity connections according to a top government official.
