The plains of Uttar Pradesh continued to reel under heat wave condition with acute power crisis adding on to the woes of the common people.
During the past 24 hours, day temperatures remained markedly above normal in Allahabad, Agra, Meerut divisions, appreciably above normal in Jhansi, Bareilly divisions and above normal in Kanpur and Moradabad divisions, Met office sources said.
Banda remained the hottest place in the state recording the maximum temperature of 47.4 degrees Celsius, sources said, adding that dust raising winds would occur at some over west UP during next 36 hours.
There will be no let up in heat wave conditions at some places during the next 48 hours, they said.
Meanwhile, acute power crisis in parts of the state has forced the people to take to the streets.
Reports of consumers holding demonstrations have come in from different districts with people raising slogans and burning effigies of the power department and officials to lodge their protests.
