Nabard pegs Telangana’s credit potential at Rs 83,400 cr

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has pegged Telangana’s credit potential at Rs 83,400 crore for the financial year against Rs 65,590 crore in the previous year.

Credit potential for the current financial year could include Rs 16,000 crore for term credit and about Rs 46,000 crore for crop loans.

The district credit plan and the State credit plan to be prepared by the SLBC (State-level Bankers' Committee) would consider this estimate, while preparing their plan for 2018-19.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, P Radhakrishnan, Chief General Manager of Nabard (Telangana region), said that the SLBC could achieve about Rs 63,059 crore by December 31, 2017, against the credit potential estimate of Rs 65,590 crore for the full year 2017-18. 

On its part, the Nabard had disbursed a financial assistance of Rs 10,633 crore for 2017-18, showing a growth of 15 per cent over the previous year's achievement of Rs 9,240 crore. In 2015-16, the assistance stood at Rs 7,226 crore.

Mission Bagiratha, the flagship irrigation project scheme, got a cumulative disbursal of Rs 3,884 crore so far, including Rs 2,154 crore last year, against a sanction of Rs 6,791 crore.
