The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that the State plans to develop five grids—water grid, power grid, gas grid, road grid and fibre optic grid.

Speaking in the Assembly after the budget presentation, he said that the State development and planning would be based on the setting up of these grids.

Referring to the State Budget presented today by the Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, the Chief Minister said the Budget would not fully reflect the overall impact on the new State as there is still lack of clarity on several aspects, including the finances the State would be able to mobilise. The figures mentioned in several of the cases are based on estimates and certain projections as there is no clarity on the full revenue the State would be able to garner during the year.

The overall focus of the development plans would be to ensure that it transforms into a drought proof State, he said.

Mentioning about the financial loss to the State and other issues, he said the central government has to compensate as the division has been forced on the State. Any loss the State faces due to the division has to be bridged by the Centre, he reiterated.

In order to develop the State factoring various issues it is already saddled with and also tough financial situation, the State has to adopt a two pronged strategy drawing up near term goals and long terms plans.

Reiterating the Government commitment to various promises he made, Naidu said that the Government was committed to the loan waiver scheme and implement it at any cost. He said that a separate budget would be presented for the agriculture sector on August 22.
