NDA's decision on no-trust vote by evening

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Parliamentary Board Executive could not take a decision on the Trinamool Congress’s plan to move a no-confidence motion against the United Progressive Alliance Government.

The party top-brass has left the decision to the “collective wisdom” of the National Democratic Alliance. A meeting of the NDA partners, which will be held at BJP patriarch L.K. Advani’s residence here in this evening, will chalk out a strategy for the Winter Session. The BJP’s chief spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad, told reporters here that the decision of the front will be announced in the evening.

Sources indicated that most of the BJP leaders are of the opinion that there is no point in supporting the motion unless the SP and the BSP were taken into confidence. The NDA leader, Sharad Yadav, who has a good rapport with the SP chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav, may be asked to hold discussions with the SP and the BSP.

The party, however, will press for a censure motion entailing voting in both the Houses. The Opposition leaders, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, will talk to leaders of the “like-minded” parties on the issue. The CPI(M) has already said that it will work with any parties to defeat FDI in retail.
