CII’s Partnership Summit will be held in Bangalore on January 27-29. The summit is being jointly hosted by Union ministry of commerce, CII and the state government.

“This year we are planning to invite Japanese prime minister. The summit will also be addressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi,” said Sharma.

Industrial corridors Two major corridors are being taken up on partnership mode in Karnataka. The Chennai-Bangalore corridor proposed by Japan and the Mumbai Bangalore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project is proposed by United Kingdom (UK).

“Now after the review meet, it has been decided that the Chennai-Bangalore corridor will be extended up to Chitradurga. The master plan work is almost complete and feasibility for phase II will be taken up shortly,” Sharma said.

For the BMIC project, a feasibility study has been commissioned. This project will have innovative funding as planned by UK. “To take it forward, a joint steering committee will be set up after getting recommendation from both the state government.
