With AAP heading towards a massive victory, BJP today said the polls were a referendum on Arvind Kejriwal and could not be seen as reflection of the Modi government’s performance.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao said local issues dominated the elections.

“I do not see in this way,” he said when asked whether the elections were a referendum on Modi’s performance.

“In this election it was a referendum on Arvind Kejriwal.

That’s how people of Delhi saw it. I think people have certainly voted for Kejriwal. It was a referendum of AAP’s 49 days in office and its performance. People felt they should be given a chance,” he said.

The AAP was on course to create history as it was ahead in 57 seats out of total 70. The BJP was ahead in only 10 seats while Congress was in 1 as per latest trends.
