Processors hail removal of VAT on soya products

The Soyabean Processors’ Association of India (SOPA) today hailed State government’s move on removal of VAT on soyameal and soya milk and several other developmental schemes for agri sector as announced by the Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Jayant Malaiyya today while presenting the State Budget for 2016-17. In a statement, SOPA Chairman Davish Jain said the overall thrust of the current Budget is on agriculture, which is a good sign and the schemes like better irrigation, use of harvested rain water, tax concession on agricultural implements will give a boost to the farm sector in the State.

He said that SOPA has also requested the State government to exempt one per cent Entry Tax on soyabean seed as well as reduction of mandi tax to one per cent as prevalent in neighbouring States.
