Zoomcar, the Bangalore-based self-drive car rental company, today announced its operations from Hyderabad and outlined plans to significantly expand its fleet of cars this year.

Greg Moran, Co-Founder and CEO, Zoomcar, said, “The vibrant and young professionals base and the family structures in Hyderabad is very similar to the one in Bengaluru, where we have had success over the last two years. We have grown exponentially and plan to increase the fleet up from 1,200 cars now to 4,000 cars by the end of 2015.”

Founded in 2013, its services are spread across Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, NCR, with Chennai and Mumbai added recently and now in Hyderabad. After Hyderabad, Zoomcar plans to enter Kolkata and plans to make entry into 10 more cities across the country with its services.

The company, which has thus far raised about $ 11 million, is considering another round of funds later this year to fuel its expansion, he said.

The self-drive car rental fleet includes Ford Figo and Ecosport, sports utility vehicles and some luxury cars. Typically, it charges about Rs 80 for Ford Figo car per hour. This includes fuel, insurance and taxes.

Whether for quick drive across the city or for an exciting outstation trip, one can now rent and drive a car without having to bother about going through the hassles of owning a car or booking a cab, Greg Moran said.
