Parliament proceedings continued to be disrupted for the fifth consecutive days on Wednesday over Telangana, even as the Government planned to introduce the Bill in the Lok Sabha in the next two working days. MPs nearly came to blows, mikes were snatched and slogans shouted in the House.
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed despair at the proceedings. “My heart bleeds to see what is happening in the House. This is bad for democracy,” said the PM after two MPs attacked each other in the Lok Sabha.
Union Minister Pallam Raju called the Prime Minister’s comments unfair. Another Minister, K S Rao said, “My heart bleeds, too. You can’t divide the State because of a few seats or political advantage.”
Both Ministers belong to the non-Telangana regions of Seemandhra and are vehemently opposed to the politically-charged plan to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
