The very severe cyclonic storm Titli over west central Bay of Bengal moved north-westwards and crossed north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coasts near Palasa in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM, according to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here.
Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh and four to five neighbouring Odisha districts bore the brunt of the cyclone, with two deaths being reported from Srikakulam.
IndiGo cancelled three scheduled flights from Vizag to Bengaluru and Hyderabad on Thursday as a precautionary measure. “No other airline has cancelled its flights. A couple of flights are delayed but there is no other problem at the Vizag Airport,” Airport Director G Prakash Reddy said.
East Coast Railway has already announced cancellation of some trains, diversion and short-termination of trains between Vizianagaram and Khurda Road (in Odisha).
