The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has taken an insurmountable lead in the bypoll to the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency.

TRS candidate, S Saidi Reddy, is leading by 21,600 votes over Congress candidate Padmavathi after the tenth round of counting.

Losing this seat to the ruling party will be a huge embarrassment to the Congress.

The bypoll was actually necessitated following the resignation of Prades Congress Committee (PCC) President Uttam Kumar Reddy after he won the Nalgonda Lok Sabha election.

The Congress fielded Uttam Kumar's wife Padmavathi in a bid to retain the seat that always voted for Congress.

It is a tough battle for BJP, which has been trying to emerge as an alternative to the TRS in the State, too. It polled 1,000 votes after the tenth round.

The TDP candidate, Chava Kiranmayi, polled about 600 votes.
