TRS meet to decide on alliance with Congress

The broad based meeting of Telangana Rastra Samithi to be held later today is likely to decide on its future course of action with regards to political alliance with Congress in the State.

The meeting slated to be held at the party office with the TRS senior leadership is expected to chart out its next course of action.

The TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier stated that TRS would merge with Congress if the long pending demand for the Telangana statehood is granted.

With the Telangana Bill now also securing Presidential assent, the decision of the TRS is being keenly watched in the political circles. The issue bogs down to whether they will merge, or decide to have alliance and seat sharing or simply prefer to go it alone.

Already there have been defections from several parties in the last week. While some of the members and even Cabinet ministers have quit Congress and joined TDP, expelled TRS MP and actress Vijayashanti had joined Congress.

With the notifications for Lok Sabha and State elections likely anytime soon, the TRS decision will play a major role in the State politics.
