Union Minister of State for Minority and Parliament Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said vested interests will not be allowed to derail the NDA Government’s development agenda by creating problems in governance.

Mentioning about the Narendra Modi-led Government’s commitment to development and mission to empower minorities, the Union Minister said that the Centre would extend all necessary support to the States in their efforts to empower the minority community.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Union Minister said that the Centre was committed to implementation of the 15-point programme. More than 50 per cent of the Muslim community is living below the poverty line and it was necessary to support their empowerment be it by providing jobs, education and address their problems and concerns.

Referring to the recent incident where Pakistan terrorist Laqvi, involved in the 26/11 terrorist attack was released from prison, he said that such acts have isolated Pakistan. It is clear that Pakistan has not learnt from the recent incident in Peshawar where school children were massacred.

Muhammad Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, said that the new Government under State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has laid special focus on development of minorities allocating budgets to support various welfare measures, including extending scholarships to the needy.

Ali urged the Union Minister to extend additional financial support to set up residential schools for poor students from rural areas of the State.

He said that the State Government has taken up measures to protect the Wakf properties. These Wakf properties would be utilised for the welfare of minorities, he said.
