Puma Urban relay race attracts corporate houses

The Puma Urban Stampede is a 20-km relay race, run by teams of 4 each. Each of the team members runs for 5 km, post which the baton is passed to the team mate.

A total of 120 teams from the corporate sector participated in the event. The Puma Urban Stampede with a participant number of 480 members is one of the largest corporate races held in the country. Major corporate participating in the event includes Wells Fargo, Aurobindo Pharma, Idea Cellular, IBM and Microsoft India. JDA Software fielded 25 teams.

Rajiv Mehta, Managing Director of Puma India in a statement said “The ‘Puma Urban Stampede brings senior executives out from their cabins to the race track. They are not only leaders of their respective organisations, but also ambassadors of fitness.”

“The Puma Urban Stampede also provides an opportunity for the corporate teams to demonstrate the value of teamwork, especially since it is a relay race,” he said.

The Puma Urban Stampede was conceptualised and launched by Runners for Life in 2008 with an aim to promote running as a means to achieve fitness, especially among the corporate folk. The event has spread to other metros of the country including Mumbai and Bangalore.
