CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury met President Pranab Mukherjee here on Friday and submitted a memorandum on the developments in Hyderabad Central University.
He said the demand for the removal of Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao by the university community is being met with strong police action. “The water connection to the hostels, access to wifi, food supplies to the hostel mess — all have been discontinued. When the students themselves organised the cooking of food for the inmates they were once again attacked by the police and all those facilities destroyed,” he said.
He said the HRD Ministry has conveyed its stand to the President.
