Google has marked the landing of Philae robotic lander on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko with a doodle on Thursday.

The doodle depicts the lander, from the European Space Agency’s Rosetta Mission, heading towards the new comet. The Rosetta Mission was launched in 2004.

Philae will provide the first images seen from a comet's surface.

The space exploration is aimed at examining the remnants of the birth of the Earth's solar system.
