Sachin Tendulkar will lead an estimated one crore runners to the streets as part of ‘Run Kerala Run,’ a promotional event for the 35th National Games that kicks off in various centres of the state on January 31.

Tendulkar is the brand ambassador for the games which the state is hosting for the second time after 1987. He is already in the city, having arrived here yesterday.

He will run along with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, his Cabinet colleagues and celebrities from various walks of life, including Arjuna awardees, in front the Government secretariat here.

This VIP contingent will run along an assigned stretch between the southern gate and northern gate, shortened for reasons of security.

Organisers claim that the mass run being held from 10.30 am at 10,000 centres would be among the best known showpiece sports events in history.

The National Games will be played out in the state for 14 days before drawing to a close on February 14.
