The JSW Steel Ltd chairman Sajjan Jindal on Tuesday expressed readiness to acquire a cricket team for the Indian Premiere League through the JSW Group.

Speaking to mediapersons, Jindal said, "Cricket is the number one sport of our country so there is an idea to acquire an IPL team. But, I cannot comment which team it would be."

Commenting on the buzz to acquire the IPL team of Royale Challengers Bangalore, Jindal refused to confirm saying, "That depends on them (RCB)."

On investing for an IPL team, Jindal said, "Money-wise I don't think that is the issue (because), the idea is that we want to take some credible team for that we can promote sports."

Jindal also mentioned that they will also focus on other sports like Kabaddi and hockey. "We want to go pan India in various sports through JSW sports, which is the wing of JSW group," said Jindal.

"We are running various clubs which promote sports like we have a football team and we are building a village for sports in Karnataka," he said.

Jindal, who was accompanied by his wife Sangeeta Jindal was in town to announce the financial support for JSW School of Public Policy at IIMA.

"As a group we would like to partner for such causes and see how we can contribute for the country, for the development of the society at large, whether it is through public policy, through sports. We are also building an olympic school. (Since) we don't win medals in Olympics," said Jindal.

Commenting on the school of public policy at IIMA, Sangita Jindal said, "This is just a first step taking with the school of public policy. And the reason why IIM-Ahmedabad chosen is because of the excellent qualifications of the candidates. Also, we must have a school for incubation as well," said Mrs Jindal.
