A complete medical checkup conducted earlier this week on Sunanda Pushkar, who was found dead in a Delhi hotel last night, showed that she was not suffering from any serious health problem, doctors at a super-speciality hospital here said today.

A team of doctors, who analysed the results of a series of tests she underwent at the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital, said the results did not show that she suffered from any serious illnesses.

“We cannot find that she had been suffering from any serious health problems....Like any other person these days, she had come for a complete checkup...She had been given only simple medicines,” eminent cardiologist Dr G. Vijayaraghavan, who headed the team of doctors, told reporters after a meeting of the medical board at KIMS.

The board reviewed the test results following the death of Sunanda, wife of Union Minister Shashi Tharoor.

Dr Vijayaraghavan said that he could not divulge the details of the checkup and the results as that would involve the risk of encroaching upon the privacy of the patient.

Sunanda was admitted in the hospital on January 12 and discharged on January 14. Her husband was also with her.

Doctors and other hospital staff, who met her, said she appeared “comfortable” during her stay in the hospital.

Her plan was to come back for a ‘review’ after one week with the investigation results pending.

Detailed information on her medical condition had been passed on to Sunanda and her husband, a hospital release said.
