TUV Rheinland NIFE Academy is planning to set up 100 more training centres for fire safety professionals across the country over the next two years, with 30 of them coming up during the current year.

Part of the diversified German company TUV Rheinland, the NIFE Academy based in India, post the acquisition, currently imparts training on fire safety through a chain of over 100 centres.

MV Thomas, Director of TUV Rheinland NIFE Academy, said that the academy has received approval from the National Skill Development Corporation for their skill-oriented courses covering fire safety, lift technology, fibre optics, inventory and store management.

The NSDC approval for TUV Reinland NIFE Academy enables students to be eligible for bank loan, easy attestation at embassies for those seeking jobs abroad and also better placements all over India.

The academy, which has been in operation from the past 23 plus years, has thus far imparted training to more than a lakh people.

On an average, it currently trains about 6,000 people per annum and this number is set to go up with the company planning to set up 100 more centres by investing up to Rs 9-10 crore, with about Rs 2.5 crore this year.

With the mandatory requirement for fire safety professionals, all airports, and large construction companies such as L&T, IVRCL, and oil and gas installations, employ professionals to mange fire safety requirements. The demand is likely to go up significantly as the requirement for trained professionals is set to go up, he explained.
